Getting college scholarship OFFERS is extremely challenging!
Many families invest tens/hundreds of thousands of dollars in a student athletes development (considering registrations fees, personal coaching, travel, equipment, hotels, uniforms/warm ups, vehicle maintenance/gas, food etc..).
However, when it comes to college recruiting, most families have a game plan of HOPE. We HOPE that a college coach sees them. We HOPE they offer a college scholarship. Now HOPE is a plan – it is just not a very good one.
We hear, “Johnny / Sally is a straight “A” student and he / she is a three or four year starter in high school. You would think that would be enough to generate offers – right? But what about ACT / SAT results. Most families will only take one of the Standard Tests.
What about college recruiting boards (what are they and how do you know if you are on one or more?) what about the Eligibility Center, what about the academic major, what about the roster (is that college recruiting your position?) What about relationships with college coaches and staff? When do you start building those?
Job searching after your athletic career will be one of the toughest things you do (besides going through the college recruiting process).
Did you graduate? What are you looking to do with your degree? Do you have an internship lined up?
How does your Resume look? Is it generating job interviews?
How is your Interviewing skills? Are you able to generate offers?
