Our co-founder Dominic Militello (pictured to the right with Rudy Ruettiger) has been through all the trickiest transitions of being a career athlete. He went from being a high school athlete to a D1 college athlete, to a professional athlete, and then finally to his post athletic career. He understands deeply the unique challenges that face people throughout and following their athletic careers, and he wanted to use his experience to help others overcome the emotional, mental, and physical challenges associated with every stage. We designed our unique systems and coaching programs to help athletes thrive throughout their careers and afterwards.
Hello and welcome to Career Coaching for Athletes. My name is Dominic Militello. I am a former high school, D1 college and professional athlete. I am a very successful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, career coach, and co-founder of Career Coaching for Athletes.
This website has been created with you in mind. At Career Coaching for Athletes we understand that to reach your full potential and to get to the highest level of competition, takes passion, commitment, confidence, a willingness to do whatever it takes, a never give up attitude, long hours and yes even a little bit of luck.
Transitioning from one level of competition to the next is a challenge in and of itself. Transitioning to a life after sport…well lets just agree that most of us would rather do 100 yard sprints – all day long.
Most athletes look forward to life after sports…afterall you are now allowed to ride a motorcycle, go skiing or even jump out of an airplane. And for a while things are good. The body starts to recover from all the training and your mind starts to swarm with cool and exciting new adventure ideas. Then reality sets, its time to get going in your next thing…but where is it, what is it and whom am I in relationship to this new thing. This transition affects everyone differently. For some it is a very smooth experience but for most of us, it can be nothing short of a traumatic experience. And it affects everyone around us and close to us. Only you know where you fall on the scale.
For me I was on the side of the scale that was closer to traumatic. I was clueless.
It has taken me over 20 yrs of job hopping, trial and error, deep inner work, recognizing and changing habits and thinking patterns that no longer served me. Some of the beliefs I held on to – that had helped me to reach the highest levels of athletics – didn’t serve me in the real world. I went deep inside and emerged with a new set of beliefs which allowed me to get to where I am today. What beliefs are you holding on to that no longer serve you?
If you are clueless like I was or somewhere close to that – rest assured that a successful transition is possible – I am proof. Will it have to take you 20 years to get to where you want to go? How do you know?
We have coaching programs and services where we can assist you during any phase of your athletic career be it high school, college or the professional level. We have been through it and we understand it. What would be different for you – if you have someone to assist you through your transition?
At Career Coaching For Athletes we prescribe to the Core Energy Coaching process (as defined by iPEC). Core Energy Coaching helps bring out the potential in a client. This process is done by emotionally connecting the client’s inner purpose and passion to outer goals and strategies to bring about extraordinary and sustainable results.
As a Certified Professional Coach (CPC) and Energy Leadership Index Master Practitioner (ELI-MP) I am inspired by my experiences and coaching expertise to be that resource – that career transition and leadership coach – for you.
May You Find Success and Inner Peace
